SFWDA summer convention in Oak Ridge TN

I got there on Thursday, along with Sammy & Martha, and set up my new camper next to a guy with a Sami.  It was motor home central.  All big dollar homes some even had coaches ( read bus).  They all thought my little "A hut" was perfect though and had a lot of people coming over to check it out. Most said "that's really cool"  which made me feel better about showing up with a "hut". We headed out Friday around 9am.  The trails there are a lot of fun if you like variety.  Very similar to URE but with ALOT more fun "spots".  Deep mud holes and pits (some could be avoided and some not), rock garden stretches,  hill climbs with stair cases, log piles to play on, deep long ruts (that put one Sami on it's side and almost a full roll-over) and scenic vistas.  Most of the really deep mud pits had bypasses.  I went in all of them and they were right.  Some are really DEEP !!  I had mud coming in the floor and my 37in. Boggers disappeared.  The TN goo just swallowed them up, but I was able to power through with relative ease.  Sammy and Martha weren't to happy about some of the mud crossing though.  But the unavoidable ones weren't that deep or bad.
On Saturday Tom and Wes showed up. One particular hill climb with stair cases was a little scary as Wes went up first and almost went over.  He winched on up and then my turn.  I said a few hail Mary's and went up.  What a rush.....I made it all the way with no problem ( I love my new big Jeep)  PHEEWW.  I was shaking a little when I got out of the Jeep.  Tom K was next.  The Tarantula clawed it's way up with ease.  I then played around on some log piles and mud pits.  Rattle rock is one stretch of rocks that makes lower 2 in Tellico seem easy.  Two front axles and one driveshaft were claimed by the trail on Friday.  Nobody tried it on Saturday mostly cause we had to get back to HQ for supper and the raffle.
Supper was good (BBQ, slaw, beans, etc) and almost everyone won something as you only got 1 raffle ticket and could not buy anymore than the one you were given.   Saturday night was a little cool and the furnace in the Aliner (my camper) was sure nice to have.  I left for home Sunday morning.
I would go back again.  The people and terrain were great.  It was a good ride and experience.
