§         John Stowe is organizing a white water rafting trip that same weekend. One boat will hold 9-10 people. John asks that you let him know if you are interested and can get enough people together. The rafting company is  small family operated business and will video tape the run. DVD’s will be made available after the run and your choice of beverage.

§         Club operations

§         Incorporation

§         We briefly discussed incorporating as a non-profit organization. This will help protect the individual members of the club. It makes it so that the clubs assets are at risk other than ones rig house or wages from law suits. It does not protect us 100% though it makes it much harder to obtain an individuals assets

§         Second it allows us to open the checking account in the clubs name only. Currently we can not open an account with out having a members name on the account. Currently it is in the treasurers name and CORE as a “cosigner”

§         The cost to incorporate is estimated at $200-250 if we file the papers ourselves. This method may leave many holes open to protecting the members due to no one in the club being an attorney.

§         The cost to file plus attorney fees is approximately $630-680. This method will help protect us much more. The attorney can word and structure the By-laws and inform us on how to operate our events with less liability. As I stated before it does not protect us %100.

§         I had spoken to SFWDA’s legal advisor Carla Boucher in the past and she advised that we incorporate. Many of the larger and older clubs are currently incorporated.

§         I am researching incorporating further if you have any questions or concerns please email me at dlanes@comporium.net. I will do my best to address everyone’s concerns or questions.

§         This subject will be brought to the table next meeting and hopefully voted on.

§         Dues

§         2005 dues will be $45

§         SFWDA has increased their dues from $20 to $25 and moved the due date to November. (this is in your issue of Trail Mix).  In response to that we will be electing officers in October possibly at the year end blow out. We will also Collect dues in October for the following year.

§         WV Children’s Charity Jamboree donation of $100 in form of a check or toys from CORE and any additional donations from members.

§         Meet N Greet at Fort Mill Jeep for the release of the new Wrangler

§         I (John Fries) have been in contact with the Sales manager and he has said that Fort Mill Jeep will take out a full page ad for two to three days with our club logo and some pictures of rigs for the release of the Unlimited Wrangler.

§         FMJ (Fort Mill Jeep) will provide food and drinks for us and it’s potential customers.

§         This event will be great exposure for the club in the paper and at FMJ right off Interstate 77 just over the NC/SC state line. No date has been set due to the fact that FMJ is unsure when the Wrangler will be delivered. Right now I am being told late Spring to early Summer. I’ll let everyone know as soon as I do so we can work it into out schedule.

§         National Tire & Wheel discount

§         They will give club members a 5% discount off advertised prices.

§         I am submitting a list to them and they will in return give us an ID number that should be used when ordering from National. More details as it develops
