Install New Shackles
I need new shackles bad. My old stock shackles are bent and my jeep now leans to the left. Not to mention that the upper bushings are stock and all tore up. Even the newer lower bushings are tore up due to abuse and the 35's I run. It took me about 2 hour to to complete the entire job. I used various tools and the overall installation was easy. Your experience will probably vary.
1. The first thing to do is follow shackle instructions on how to prepare your vehicle. My instructions consisted of jacking the front end and inch or so off of the ground then supporting the frame.
2. Check your parts and make sure they are all there.
3. Understand what problems you might run into. The shackles on the drivers side where the worst. The bolt that ran through the center turned in such a way that I had to cut the bolts off. You can see the wear on the old black bushings and some on the newer red busings
4. The passenger side came right off with little resistants. You can see the wear on the old black bushings and some on the newer red busings.
5. Now install the bushings. Line up the shackle holes and insert the bolt. You multiple floor jacks to do this. Don't forget the washers. Then tighten to 55 foot pounds. You may need to swap how you put the bolts in for clearence reasons. My gas tank and steering box got in the way a little bit.
6. Everyhting is installed and looking good. My jeep is sitting straight again.
