     Southern Fourwheel Drive Association’s 3rd quarterly meeting

                              September 20-22, 2002

 

GENERAL INFO:

The location for the 2002 3rd quarterly meeting will be in the Uwharrie National Forest. It is located 20 minutes south east of Albemarle NC. Uwharrie has 16 miles of trails open to OHV. The trails rate from easy to moderate with a few challenging sections. Stock to moderately modified vehicles will be best suited for the trail system. Heavily modified vehicles will find little challenge, but are still welcome.

FRIDAY- Unscheduled with no planned rides.

8:00pm -  There should be a night run leaving group camp  --ŕ “Details”

 

SATURDAY-

8:30-10:00am trail rides departing from large group campsite.

 

5:00-7:00pm BBQ and chicken dinner provided from caterer.

 

7:00pm 3rd quarter meeting. Raffle afterwards. Night run if there is enough interest.

 

SUNDAY-

9:00am runs depart

 

12:00 event ends.

 

CHECK IN:

This will be at the large group campsite. This is where the trail sign ups are held, maps and directions available, raffle tickets, and general questions answered.

 

CAMPING&LODGING:

The camping area is semi-primitive. There is running water available and a small bathroom. There are no showers on site. Showers are available at another campsite inside the forest for a small use fee.

AREA AMENITIES:

The town of Albemarle is full of restaurants, parts stores, and Wal-Mart.

 

DIRECTIONS:

From TN take I-40E to I-26E outside of Asheville. Take I-85N towards Charlotte. Take exit 45 on to WT Harris Blvd. Head east. Turn left onto Albemarle rd. This road turns into 24/27 as you head out of town. Go approx. 30 miles and you will come into the town of Albemarle. You will come to a large 4way intersection (McDonalds and BP gas at corner). Turn right, this is still 24/27. After you cross the bridge over the lake you will see the Uwharrie sportsman store. Turn left there onto River rd. Take River rd until you come to a “T” intersection. Turn left onto HWY 109. Go about 2miles and you will see the entrance for Uwharrie on your left. Follow the yard signs along the way to the campsite.

From GA take I-85N and follow the above directions.

From SC take I-85N or I-77N and take the WT Harris exit and follow the rest of the above directions.

 

ADDITIONAL INFO:

Since the trail rides are in a National forest, there is a $5.00 dollar per day trail use fee. Required in your vehicle is a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, tow strap and battery tie down.
