SFWDA 3rd Quarter Meeting at Uwharrie National Forest Sept 20-22
The SFWDA held it's 3rd quarter meeting at Uwharrie National Forest September 20 -22 hosted by CORE. It was a great time. We had the group camp setup by 4 and ready to go on a night run. Around 8pm we had 10 vehicles ready to go. Guys and girls alike were ready to hit the trails at night. Half of the group was CORE, some where from the Georgia bounty hunters and a nice guy from TN. After three and half hours of wheeling we called it a night and headed back to group camp. Once we got back we had a festive time enjoying many cold beverages. Early next morning we awoke to about 70 people ready to go wheeling. Those going broke up into 5 or more groups and headed to different trails at different times. Our group numbered 6 and we headed for Dutch John. We ran all the trails with no problems. The only snag was the parking lot at Kodak rock. It worked out well because we had lunch while waiting for the group ahead of us to make it through and then waited and watched the group behind us work there way through. After a day of wheeling we headed back to cleaned up for the meeting. When we got back we shortly found folks who didn't fair so well. To the best of my knowledge we had three axles break on two jeeps and one International truck. That nights meal was BBQ with baked beans and cole slaw. After dinner we started the meeting. The SFWDA went over the previous quarter meeting and other concerns of the members. After the meeting we held a prize drawing where many great prizes where given away. After the meeting we enjoyed many cold beverages and went to bed early. Early in the morning, some where around 5 the last few went to sleep. Most people where up around 8 and packing to go home. The farthest attendant was a fella out of Memphis, 15 hours. We hope that he and everybody else who attended had a good time.
